PHPs serve as a “step-down” option after inpatient care but can also be used as an alternative to inpatient care if symptoms or behaviors are not yet unmanageable. These programs generally run up to six hours a day, five days a week, while allowing you to return home in the evenings. Within the first one to two days, patients will typically meet with a healthcare provider, and a nurse is available on-site at all times.
PHPs involve a full team of clinicians and counselors, incorporating both traditional and holistic treatment approaches, including behavioral and holistic therapies, wellness education, recreational activities, family meetings, group therapy, and medication management.
